Clothing Donations

Description

Light clothing is needed for everyone of all ages. We came across this woman and child in 2010 in Haiti. She was nude when we arrived. We gave her and her infant clothing and food. Please support these types of projects.

Clothing Donations–The Need

When we arrive at a Batey or village, seeing tattered, half-dressed or nude men, women and children is all too common. There is no way to clean or repair clothing, no way to replace clothing. Because there is no laundry, no clean underwear, and no money to buy clothing—even if there was a clothing store.
The Haitian woman and child above were seen in a ditch huddled with a young girl that was just sexually abused, they were all nude. We stopped, immediately gave them clothing and food. As for the under-nourished infant, we had plenty of formula on hand that Mom tasted and then immediately gave it to her child.

The need for clean, lightly used summer clothing should never be underestimated!

Clothing Donations–What we Do

And our ability to donate clothing can not be emphasized enough. Thanks to individuals and volunteer groups like "Willing Hearts" of Caldwell, NJ, we are able to pack and ship clothing to people who have nothing. We ship in cardboard boxes or plastic barrels. The cardboard is then used for flooring in shacks, the barrels are then used to collect water or store clothing or dry foods. We deliver sandals as most people are barefooted. Blankets, hats, t-shirts. All lightly used clothing that is lightweight for summer wear.

When we give clothing to a person the expression on their face makes us believe they have everything they need.

Clothing Donations–The Result

When we give clothing to a person the expression on their face makes us believe they have everything they need.Secured more than 8 tons of clothing and accessories that included shoes, socks, shirts, pants, underwear, belts, hats, rain gear, and toys and dolls for the children.
